Lead your family in STEM learning!
The Science Center of Iowa’s Family STEM Institute helps parents lead their families in educational learning by incorporating science, technology, engineering and math into their daily lives.
Led by early childhood experts from the SCI Preschool, the classes are designed for parents with children ages 0 to 8, with some activities taking place together and some breakout activities for children and parents.
- Classifying Creatures — Tuesday, December 4, 5:30–7:30 pm
Invesitgate Iowa's animals, and learn how you can turn small moments (like an encounter with an animal) into an exiting learning experience.
- Exploring Engineering — Thursday, February 28, 5:30–7:30 pm
This workshop is all about engineering! Learn how you can use hands-on experiences - like playing 3-D shapes, building LEGO bricks and using measurement tools - to teach your child how to think like an engineer.
- Bits & Bots — Tuesday, April 16, 5:30–7:30 pm
Introduce your child to the fundamentals of programming, robotics and coding, and explore the ways you can incorporate bits and bots into your child's daily life.
