SCI names chief financial officer

The Science Center of Iowa & Blank IMAX Dome Theater (SCI) recently named Ni Wagner, CPA, as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Retail/Facility Operations.

Wagner joined SCI this spring and will help lead the senior management team in strategic planning as the organization approaches its 50th anniversary in 2020. As CFO, she will coordinate the development of the annual plan and be responsible for financial aspects of SCI’s operations. She also will manage key areas in SCI’s retail and facility operations.

"Ni brings a wide range of financial management experience to the position and has a proven record as a team player," said Curt Simmons, SCI President and CEO. "The board of directors and I welcome Ni to our executive team and look forward to working with her as we advance the mission of SCI."

Wagner brings 17 years of accounting, financial reporting and analysis experience from aviation, insurance and public accounting industries to her role as SCI’s chief financial officer.

A certified public accountant, Wagner earned her undergraduate degree from Coe College before receiving a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Accounting from St. Ambrose University. She also taught MBA accounting at Mount Mercy University as an adjunct professor.

Wagner was born and raised in Xi’an, China, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Prior to joining SCI, she lived in Cedar Rapids with her husband, Wade, and son, Wayko.
