Available only during the school year, these private lab and workshop sessions give students a unique opportunity to engage in STEM learning.

NEW! Innovation Lab Workshops

SCI’s technology-focused makerspace is designed to ignite the maker’s mindset and cultivate creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking.

Private workshops offer unique, hands-on experiences engaging in making, tinkering and design thinking. Workshops range from 60-90 minutes and integrate Next Generation Science Standards and computer science standards.

3D Design and AR

Grades 3-8
Learn how Augmented Reality is used in video games, interior design and photo enhancement. Explore ways to use CAD software to create 3D images that can be viewed in augmented reality.

Microbits and Bots

Grades 3-8 
Learn how many of the gadgets you use every day are programmed with Microcontrollers. Explore ways to use a Microbit to create useful tools.

Robotics and Coding

Grades 3-8 
Learn about how robots can improve our lives by helping us with our daily chores or doing dangerous tasks. Explore ways to program different robots using block based coding.

Discovery Labs

These private 45- to 60-minute lab sessions are for groups of up to 30 students. Participants have the opportunity to get their hands on science with an SCI Programs Team member!

Crime Scene Science

Grades 6–12
A burglary has been committed, and SCI is putting your class on the case! Investigate six suspects and six types of simulated evidence to solve the crime. Work with a team of student investigators to complete an evidence report and present results. Reinforces National Science Standards: Science as Inquiry, Physical Science, Life Science, Science and Technology, Science in Personal and Social Perspectives, History and Nature of Science.

Three Little Engineers

Preschool–Grade 2
We have all heard the story of the Three Little Pigs, but now it’s time to live it! Join us on an engineering adventure, and see if your constructions can stand up to the wolf’s huffing and puffing! Reinforces National Science Standards: Science as Inquiry and Physical Science.
