The Science Center of Iowa (SCI) has received a $5,000 donation from Hy-Vee, Inc. to provide greater access to STEM education across Iowa.

Proceeds from SCI’s annual fundraising event, named “SCI’s Big Blast,” support opportunities for more than 320,000 children, teens and adults to engage in science learning each year through onsite programming, exhibits and events as well as a statewide outreach and professional development program.

“Hy-Vee’s whole team is here to be a helpful smile to everyone we serve, and we share that commitment to helping others with the Science Center of Iowa,” said Brad Waller, assistant vice president of community relations for Hy-Vee. “We’re proud to partner with the Science Center of Iowa as they serve lifelong learners across the state. We know that by working together, we can make a stronger community and a brighter future for all of us.”

SCI’s Big Blast will be held at the Science Center of Iowa in downtown Des Moines on Friday, August 23. Tickets are available at www.sciowa.org/bigblast
