SCIENCE CENTER OF IOWA NAMES CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

The Science Center of Iowa (SCI) recently named Abby Hood, CPA, as the organization’s Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Administration.
Hood joined the team January 15 and will coordinate the development of the annual financial plan and be responsible for all financial aspects of SCI’s operations. As CFO and VP of Administration, she will also oversee human resources and IT systems, as well as manage key areas in SCI’s retail and facility operations.
“We are pleased to welcome Abby to the SCI team, as she brings her extensive experience with management and accounting,” said Curt Simmons, SCI President and CEO. “Abby’s creativity and energy will be a great fit with the team as we move forward building an exciting future for the Science Center of Iowa and the community.”
Hood brings more than a dozen years of accounting and auditing experience, with a specialty in charitable and not-for-profit association auditing, to her role as SCI’s chief financial officer.
A certified public accountant, Hood earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northwest Missouri State University. Originally from Bondurant, she now makes her home in Des Moines.
